The Birmingham Bowel Clinic offers an education programme for West Midlands based GPs and Healthcare professionals.

As part of your continual professional development we would be happy to come to your practice to discuss the management of bowel conditions and present on a variety of general surgical and colorectal topics, in particular:

  • Update on treating Haemorrhoids- in particular the HALO Procedure
  • What's new in colorectal surgery
  • Management of minor anal conditions
  • Laparoscopic surgery for Colorectal disease- benign or malignant
  • Investigation of rectal bleeding and anaemia
  • Dealing with a patient with anal incontinence
  • An update on hernias
  • Imaging a patient with suspected colorectal carcinoma (delivered by Dr Ian McCafferty- Consultant Radiologist)
  • Management of Colorectal Cancer (delivered by Dr Ian Geh- Consultant Oncologist)

April 2016. Mr Radley lectures to local GPs

On Thursday 21st April 2016, Simon Radley presented as part of the BMI Priory Hospital General Surgery and Medicine study day at the Priory Tennis Club in Edgbaston.

He gave a one hour presentation, titled "Proctology for the General Practitioner" to 76 local GPs.

Mr Radley's lecture was extremely well received by the delegates, with 76% of GPs who completed anonymous feedback forms strongly agreeing that Mr Radley's presentation was relevent to their interests, and 23% agreeing the presentation was relevent to their interests, (the remaining 1% stated not applicable).

All of GP delegates agreed or strongly agreed that their understanding of proctology for general practice has now improved as a result of listening to Simon Radley's presentation, 6% stated neutral.

77% of delegates agreed or strongly agreed that Mr Radley answered their questions well. For 23% of the GP delegates who completed their feedback forms this question was answered that they agreed he answered their questions well.

All attendees stated that they would like to receive future lectures from Mr Radley on other bowel related subjects.

GP Feedback from Mr Radley's talk to local GPs - July 2014

On Wednesday 2nd July 2014, Simon Radley presented as part of the BMI Men's Health and Urology study day at the Birmingham Medical Institute in Edgbaston.

He gave a 30 minute presentation, titled “Proctology for the General Practitioner” to 80 local GPs which was extremely well received by the delegates, with 92% of GPs who completed anonymous feedback forms strongly agreeing/ or agreeing that the Proctology talk was relevant to their interests (the remaining 8% stated not applicable).

93% of GP delegates agreed or strongly agreed that their knowledge of Proctology for General Practice has now improved as a result of listening to Simon Radley's presentation, 7% stated neutral.
48% of delegates agreed or strongly agreed that Mr Radley answered their questions well. For 52% of the GP delegates who completed their feedback forms this question wasn't relevant to them as they did not directly ask Mr Radley a question.

June 2017 - Mr Radley updates local GPs about Bowel Cancer

On Thursday 15th June, Mr Simon Radley presented as part of the BMI Priory Hospital Cancer Care Masterclass GP study day at the Priory Tennis Club in Edgbaston.

Mr Radley gave a one hour presentation about Bowel Cancer to 51 local GPs.

Mr Radley's presentation on the subject proved popular with the GP delegates, with all apart from one of GPs who completed anonymous feedback forms strongly agreeing or agreeing that the bowel cancer presentation was relevent to their interests.

86% of GP delegates agreed or strongly agreed that their understanding of bowel cancer had now improved as a result of listening to the presentation.

Mr Radley lectures to GPs at Men's Health Update November 2013 study day

On Wednesday 20th November 2013, Mr Simon Radley presented at the Birmingham Medical Institute and BMI Priory Hospital Men's Health and GP study day.

He gave the day's opening thirty minute lecture to 80 GPs from accross the West Midlands titled: “The Modern Management of Haemorrhoids- What’s New?”

Out of the 80 GP deleagtes, 55 completed feedback forms on each of the presentations. Feedback analysis of Mr Simon Radley's lecture is detailed below:

Mr Radley's GP Feedback from his presentation at Men's Health GP study day Summer 2013

Mr Simon Radley from the Birmingham Bowel Clinic presented to over 70 GPs at a Men's Health Study day which was held at the Birmingham Medical Institute on Thursday 16th May 2013.

Mr Simon Radley gave a talk about the modern treatment of haemorrhoids at the GP Study afternoon which 6 hours of certified learning.

As always so consultants can evaluate their presentation delivery, feedback questionnaires were completed by the attending GPs.
Feedback on the presentations are detailed below:

56% of attending GPs strongly agreed that the content of Mr Radley's presentation was relevent to their interests.

40% of attending GPs agreed that the content of the presentation was relevant to their interests.
The outstanding 4% remained neutral.

50% of attending GPs strongly agreed that their understanding of the bowel issues that were covered in the presentation have improved as a result of Mr Radley's lecture. lectures.

46% of attending GPs agreed that their understanding of the bowel issues that were covered in the presentations have improved as a result of the lectures.

The remaining 4% were neutral.

58% of GPs who attended the study session with Mr Radley strongly agreed that they would be interested in receiving further bowel related lectures from him.

38% of GPs who attended the study session with Mr Radley agreed that they would be interested in receiving further bowel related lectures from him. The other 4% stated not applicable.

28% of attendees strongly agreed that Mr Radley answered their questions well. 48% agreed that Mr Radley answerred their questions well, with the remaining stating not applicable.
